Urban Bugs in their urban havens

Urban wastelands also known as brownfield sites provide valuable habitats for many flora and fauna species, including large invertebrate communities.
Brownfield sites can support a diverse range of flowering plants, which in turn provide a strong nectar and pollen source. With the significant loss of wildflowers from the wider countryside the conditions that brownfield sites offer often create a refuge and food source for much bug life.
Whilst these pockets of land lay abandoned by planners and developers, nature will reclaim them creating rich ecosystems throughout the urban landscape. Our project not only aims to change perceptions of the plant life that occupy these sites, but also to raise awareness of the unique habitats that are being provided.
