Back to the drawing board

'Back to the drawing board', a term usually used to imply a previously failed attempt, resulting in the designer having to return to square one. Thankfully this is not the case, but I am choosing to use this idiom anyway. It seems so suited; we have spent weeks building and growing our designs and this week we need to return to the drawing board not to re-design but to design in more detail one of the elements of our sculptures- the plant pockets.

The pockets will sit within sections of the structures and hold a variety of our plants. We have designed this feature to help create the effect of timelessness throughout our installation, having vegetation creeping, crawling and hanging on several visual planes.

The design and construction has been a success, see below for a small photographic journey from sketch to sculpture. The next photos we post will show the pockets planted and getting ready to travel to the show!
